Another wildlife packed few days after Maya joined us, we went for a walk by the Nepean River, and had another day at the Australian Botanical Gardens.

Superb Fairy Wren |
You can never have too many pictures of this fabulous little bird.

Female King Parrot |
This King Parrot posed nicely, unfortunately not in a natural setting, but at least it shows how close they are to the urban sprawl.
These 3 ants were busy trying to carry a big beetle across the path, and when they all pointed in the same diection, were succeeding. It never fails to impress me how strong insects are for their size.

Monarch Butterfly |
A monarch butterfly only slightly worn.
And its very striking caterpillar.
![These pelicans were posing in slightly the wrong place against the light, but striking birds they are anyway Pelicans in Jervis Bay](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifbR9Gvgjik_oAMkES9q4dAt5tpI9zCnmwfhKSs8M7n80P-lX17APDYjo_wbqitEXV5T30v1N4Rg3qMj8D7E29TSrZFhppfY-lzsxZFIL_8_9bABEU557PVIWnvjwJUWTPsQQ6p-c06TE/s1600/IMG_3761.JPG) |
Pelicans |
These pelicans were posing nicely, even though they were against the light. They may look a bit goofy and ungainly on land, but in flight they are controlled and very graceful.

Crimson Rosella |
I've stalked them, hidden behind trees, tried everything to get a good photo of a Crimson Rosella, then when you go to a viewpoint to look at the scenery, one pops up right in a tree next to you!

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo |
The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is a bit of a comedy bird as this pose shows. It should really have baggy trousers and a big red nose.

At last - one with its crest raised |
This unidentified bug was found in the Botanical Gardens - looks like a cross between a wood-louse and a cockroach. More research required.
(The cockroach guess was a good one - it's a native Australian Ellipsidion Cockroach nymph)
Also in the Botanical Gardens, these exquisite flowers.
